Swallowed Pride

I believe Pride is one of our Big Issues. Like nature, it always comes up within our self. The Bible says, "A man's pride brings him low, but a man's lowly spirit gains honor" (Proverbs 29:23). Pride in my own abilities or accomplishments could keep me from finding happiness and fulfillment in God. I must be willing to swallow my pride if I am to be whole. As Henri Nouwen put it, "God said, 'Go and live among the poor of spirit, and they will heal you.' " There lies the hidden treasure.
