Spiritual Therapy and Medicine
The scientific medical model looks for a cure. Its focus has always been on the relief of symptoms. There is a difference between curing and healing. As we know, many times, there is not a cure ... but there is healing. Healing is the inner peace that comes from a living experience of God and trusting Him for His best possible outcomes. Wellness ... in spite of pain is a gift from a loving God even as we learn to live with disease. The challenge we face is not a choice between spirituality and medicine. We need both. Medicine treats the physical. But it is a right relationship with God and others, love, and peace that heal the total being. This is the integrative approach to medicine that acknowledges the physical, emotional, and spiritual components of illnesses.
