The Healing of Holy Week

It's a solemn Holy Week for us this week in the Christian calendar. We recall the passion and death of Jesus Christ and celebrate man's redemption from sin.

It's insightful what some people would say to those who are in the dumps ("wounded"): "Mukhang Biernes Santo ka!" (You look like good Friday!"). And when a traitor or one who betrays your trust suddenly becomes kind to you, people say, "Naku ingat, baka halik ni Hudas yan!" ("Oh careful, that could be Judas' kiss!")

Because of Christ, one can find true, total healing from life's stresses, hurts, and traumas. You know why? Holy Week did not end on Good Friday. It's just a mere part. The most significant and joyous part of Holy Week is EASTER SUNDAY! Because Christ had risen from the dead, we can have hope, salvation, healing, and heaven to look forward to.

Indeed, Christmas (our favorite holiday!) would have been incomplete without EASTER.

"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ" (Romans 6:23).
