Psychotherapy is like open heart surgery ...

Psychotherapy is like open heart surgery - emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Some of life's wounds and traumas are so deep that they require "open heart surgery" which requires enough time to recover afterwards. Unfortunately, some people are not willing to give it enough time. They try to push the healing cycle too quickly. They may look healthy on the outside. But on the inside they still have a lot of healing to do. Result? More damage is inflicted on self in the hurrying-up process. What would normally take 5 years of recovery is going to take 8 or 9 years due to going-over-it-again relapses! When in recovery from deep pain or trauma, wisdom and patience are needed to take things slow.

"He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds ... Great is our Lord and mighty in power; His understanding has no limit" (Psalm 147: 3, 5).
