You Are More Than Human Relationship

If you have thought of your self solely as a husband or wife, a father or mother, a boyfriend or girlfriend, then what happens to you if you lose that? Would you feel so miserable, ugly, worthless, even suicidal? One step to proper perspective and recovery from the wound of loss is to learn that we are more than human relationships. Ultimately, we must define ourself in Christ and His love. We need to be reminded by God in this way - "I'm the One who created you. I love and do care for you. My love for you has nothing to do with you spouse, children, bosses, friends etc. I love you regardless of what happened."

Jeremiah 31:3 says that "The LORD appeared to us . . . saying: 'I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.'"
