How do I understand my "impressions?"
Inner feelings and impressions are common. This reminds me of a time when I was seized by an impression that I had digestive illness. My heart thumped a little harder as I contemplated I might die of this disease! After a time, I went to the hospital for check up. They performed x-rays and placed me under some sophisticaled medical machines with 3 to 5 doctors attending. They found nothing! Perhaps I was under some form of attack in my mind. The impression has proved invalid or phony. Similar examples can be found in the experiences of others. We need to be careful about interpreting our inner images and impressions. Of course, the Holy Spirit does speak to us in the form of inner images and impressions. But, in the course of discerning them, we have to distinguish the voice of God or reality from other sounds within and without.
"No wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light" (2 Corinthians 11:14).
