Steve's Exposition
Steve Murrell, pastor/author, preached on Hebrews 9:27, 28 this week. He highlighted "destined," "die," and "judgment" as one of his exposition points. Everyone dies. And everyone faces judgment from God. This is a sobering, comforting truth. Often, people get so disappointed and impatient about getting justice in this world. It's a mystery - the "unfair consequences" heaped upon the righteous or innocent ones, the "unjust triumph" of evil and wickedness, and so on. "Whether from this life or the next, God will bring justice," pastor Steve preached. So, we can take anything then, if we truly trust the sovereign hand of God upon our lives. Nobody escapes facing Him someday, anyway.
"Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment. So Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and He will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for Him." (Hebrews 9: 27, 28).
