Finding Home By Leaving Home

Gestalt psychology founder, Dr. Fritz Perls, once said, "The goal of life is to move from environmental support to self support." It is to achieve independence and a strong sense of self. However, when one's earliest imprints were contaminated by poor modeling and abandonment from significant others, there developed a developmental arrest. Such create a shame-based identity and weak or false sense of self. Werner Erhard points out, "Until we resolve our source relationships, we are really never in another relationship." And since much of our shame is caused by dysfunctional source relationships, finding home means leaving home by breaking the influence of those source relationships.
