Overnight Healing ... Not!
Therapy holds tremendous potential for those who will apply themselves. But its not going to happen overnight or in one leap. I often hear from hurting persons in therapy asking why they're not seeing significant progress. But more times than not, the person asking has not even been in therapy for a few weeks, and is only really beginning to even understand how the journey works.
And frankly, for those highly traumatized or abused since childhood or for many years, even if the number is six or twelve months, it's still too much early to be expecting significant relief. You must understand that healing takes time. And, as William Shakespeare puts it, "wounds are healed by degrees."
Take one step at a time. Plant a healing seed each day. You reap what you sow. But the harvest is never in the same season as the planting! Today you are planting. Your harvest will come in time. And always remember, the ONLY WAY TO FAIL IS TO QUIT.
