Mistakes As Teachers

Mistakes can be good teachers. There is no way one can experience true learning and change without making errors.

Watch children learning to walk. They literally learn to walk by falling down. Each time they fall, they adjust their steps and balance ... and try again walking. Each mistake or failure creates successive improvements. Finally they can walk.

In life, those who fear or avoid making mistakes have trouble learning and changing. They get scared and easily disheartened. They won't receive new insights and self-understanding because the inevitable mistakes are just too painful. As a result, they often stay where they are (damaging though it may be) even for a lifetime.

Welcome mistakes! They are teachers that tell us what we need to correct. As we correct each mistake, we grow. Whatever comes next is an improvement.
