The Best Friend and Friends

This Christmas, we found the Best friend and need to be with true friends. John Donne was right: "No man is an island." C.S. Lewis put it in another way: "No one can paddle his own canoe." By nature, we want to remain in our comfort zone. In our pain, we can be afraid to risk to care, get close, or let others know us in our distress. I can honestly say that if it weren't for my Best Friend and my friends, I would have thrown in the towel. I would have given up sometime ago. In hindsight, I'm glad I didn't. I'm glad for my Best Friend and friends. Psychotherapy is a form of "friendship." I offer it in a creative way as part of the healing journey. This is one of those reasons why I see myself outside the "traditional mainstream." I offer something different than what most secular/mainstream MDs or PhDs can offer. It happens to be crucial, even essential to total therapy.
