A Presence of Joy

This week, I heard Peter Tanchi, CCF founder, speaking about "joy." According to him, joy is independent of circumstances, events, or people surrounding us. It's a by-product of a personal relationship with God (not man-focused, but God-focused). Most of the time, we let people or circumstances define our "joy." We miss joy because we usually make choices that close our lives to the possibility of true "joy" that's based on trusting God. We choose depression. Bitterness. Resentment. Anxiety. Busyness. Withdrawal. Self pity. A tragedy may be going on in your life right now. Nevertheless, joy (God's peace) affirms that tragedy can be overcome. "He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world" (1 John 4:4). Would you choose to allow this joy to show itself in your life?
