The "Neutral Zone"

If you're in a serious journey of personal recovery and growth, it's important that you face what William Bridges calls the "neutral zone." It's a time of moratorium - a break from the "busyness" of life so you could attend to much-needed inner work.

This can be difficult to do since you may not feel "productive" during this downtime.  And you could feel afraid too of what you'd discover if left alone for too long.

How much time, you'll ask me?  Honestly, I don't know. But I do know that if you skip this time in dealing with what is "unprocessed" from your past (and pay your emotional bills!), you're destined to repeat it to your present and future.
