When Nobody Understands

We've all heard words from people we wish they could take back. Hurtful words, especially in situations they're unfamiliar with.  Sadly, our brains don't easily purge toxic thoughts. Even if years have passed, we tend to relive the blows to an already weakened sense of self worth. Here's the bottom line:  not everyone is going to be kind or helpful or gentle to you with your wound. The way to protect your self is to lower expectations and find safe people in your journey. Surround your self with true friends who can understand your pain and help you through the difficulty.
