Emotional Health, Immune System, and Cancer

I love this photograph. She's a cancer patient. Very young. Yet she exudes feelings of joy and a fighting spirit. Psychiatrist Dr. Alison Fife in a Boston hospital once investigated over 70 major research studies on the link connecting emotional health, the immune system, and cancer. He, along with his colleagues, concluded that there is tremendous evidence on the role of psychological and emotional distress in the weakening of the immune system. Negative thoughts and feelings make people sick. They increase the risk or worsen the condition of cancer or other critical illnesses such as diabetes, thyroid disease, cardiovascular disorders etc. Indeed, one's psychological, emotional, and spiritual state determines one's long-term survivability of cancer.
