Quieting Your Mind
Peace, in the midst of chaos, can exist only when you have a quiet mind. Learn to be still. And stillness would come only if you spend time going within.
Anytime you feel stress or the burdens too overwhelming, take a moment to meditate. Have yourself several minutes of sacred silence. Close your eyes and take 5 to 10 slow, deep breaths. Feel your breath as it passes through the back of your throat and as it moves into your chest and abdomen. Be aware of the inflow and outflow of your breath as you fall still.
Prayer is also a tool to quiet your mind. Pray your way to inner peace despite your outer circumstances. Talk to God. Tell Him anything. And listen to Him. Read His Word. Lasting peace comes when you move beyond temporal to eternal resources.
"Be still and know that I am God" (Psalm 46:10).
