Do You Have Fear Of People?

I realize that this is a very common psychological problem: fear of people. Just being with strangers can be big trouble for some. They suffer from feelings of panic, rapid heartbeats, perspiration, breathing difficulties, and even dizziness or trembling. It's more than a normal discomfort or fear of people around.

This reminds me of a related phenomenon - the fear of the opinions and actions of others. It's a kind of fear where you think and act as if your whole being rests solely in the thoughts and feelings of other people. You become afraid of people because you imagine the harm they might do to you. When you think about it, it doesn't seem to make much sense, does it? Yet the fear of people is real inside the person.

A prophet once asked, "Who are you that you should be afraid of a man who will die?" He is right. Yes, people can do us harm or injustice. But fearing the reproach of fellow human beings is foolish and sick because they are dying creatures. People, like grass, appear today and gone tomorrow. They don't have the power to hold your now or future.

Remember this well: Only the Lord your Creator has the last word. Your well-being, your future and everlasting good depends on Him alone.
