Old Man, Young Wife
This morning, I'm reading about Mel Gibson who found himself talking to an old man about marriage.
"We were having a real heart-to-heart," narrates Gibson, "then his wife appeared. She was a beautiful girl about 19 or 20. And I said, 'Oh you are a lucky man.' "
The old man shook his head and answered, "I should have stayed with my first wife. Things have not changed - she just looks different."
Gibson sums it up, "You see, people are chasing things they can't get. They're just illusions. You've got to make a commitment in marriage."
Interestingly, years after he said that, Gibson found himself in a similar marital predicament that led to a painful divorce.
Life does take more than knowing, especially in marriage.
