Your Pain Can Be A "Place of Springs"

The other week, in the hospital, the "place of springs" was the substance of the talk I was giving. While speaking, I knew in my heart that it was a healing insight an attending, wheel-chaired cancer patient needed for her own sickness. At the end of my talk, she thanked God for the message, learning that her cancer can be a "place of springs" for her life when she embraces it, trusts Him, and reaches out to others. Her worst pain qualifies her to serve. It was not intended to be just for her. And it was. It was a needed concept that brings hope to all the rest of us or anyone in the worst of circumstances.

How can one's worst pain or circumstances turn into a "place of springs?" A place of life and redemption? In the simple passage found in Psalm 84, you find the answer - "Blessed are those whose strength is in You, who has set their hearts on pilgrimage, as they pass through the valley of Baca (weeping), they make it a place of springs" (vv. 5, 6). If you are currently in the valley of weeping, there is a way for it to become a place to build on. By depending on God's strength and not your own, He can bring life to the driest, most painful moments of your life. He can take all your sufferings and wounds and turn it into a "place of springs." What a dramatic way to move into your better future!

Don't forget your "place of springs." It's an exciting factor that can keep you from giving up.

"And we know that in all things God work for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose" (Romans 8:28)
